Some of you may or may not have seen this, but there is an 'artist' and I use the term in the loosest possible sense that in 2007 showed at a gallery an exhibition: he caught a stray dog off the street, clearly already undernourished and emaciated, and tied it up in the gallery and was left there to starve. It was not fed, or given care of any kind and died after a week; what's more people stood around apparently uncaring. Please , if yu have a heart sign this petition [link]
To make matters worse , the 'artist' has been invited to repeat the exhibition this year! help stop this criminal neglect, as artists and human beings

Hey people,
as promised a proper journal udatey thingy but i'm still kinda lazy so I'm going to dot-point it (there is a point to the weird title, so bear with me) :
* I have deffered from uni for a year (july 2007-october 2008) and am currently looking for work, unsuccessfully I might add, I have so far applied for about five jobs, and have been rejected for all of them. As a last resort I submitted an online application for Coles, BiLo and Kmart for part-time or casual work.

* I am currently living with my boyfriend and we are looking for somewhere bigger to live,(currently in a one bedroom unit).

* ok, as for the weird title, it makes sense because I have recently become obsessed with amigurumi (Japanese for crocheted or knitted toy/doll) and can't wait to try it (I'm waiting for my mum so post me some of my stash of wool from homeand possibly some crochet hooks aswell. also I bought a huge book called 'the complete book of crochet stitch designs' it has over 500 stitch patterns and was well worth the $50 I spent on it. So I have spent the last 3 days scouring the internet for free patterns and pictures of amigurumi critters, including brousing through all 1400+ results for an amigurumi search on dA.

so that's about it for now, hopefully in the next couple of weeks i should have some new posts up of my newly crocheted critters.

Also I'M GETTING A NEW CAMERA FOR MY BIRTHDAY!! I know it isn't until april and we've only just had christmas but... yeah, so I have my eye on an Olympus SP-560UZ, and since it's such a big pressie cost wise, it is going to be a collaborative gift (as in from more than one person). so here's some of the specs, that i can remember: it has 18x optical zoom, 8megapixels, ah yup thats all i can remember, *scurries off to google camera specs*
-Dual Shakeproof CCD Image Stabiliser
-18 x Optical Zoom
-8.0 Megapixels
-Face Detection and Shadow Adjust
-Wide Angle 27mm Lens
-Nightproof Technology
-Editproof with Perfect Fix
-2.5" High Resolution LCD Screen and Electronic Viewfinder
-Fast Burst Mode
-Perfect Shot Preview
-Movie mode with sound
-Smile Shot

and it has a super macro mode which can shoot from as close as 1cm (i like taking photos of insects, flowers and absrtact close-ups of stuff, so this will be very handy). it has heaps of other stuff too, and is going to take me ages to learn how to use to its full potential but I intend to do just that.

so thats about it for now.

Happy New Years to all :)

Rin

ok, just a quick one. I'm going to have no internet for a while until the 30th june to the 8th july, then after that possibly no internet for an indeterminable amount of time. The thought of how full my devwatch inbox is going to be when I finally do get on the net again :faints: but I'll make best efforts to look at everyones wonderful deviations, and I will answer any comments etc when i can.

so, news, I'm more than likely going to be deferring uni for the rest of this year and next year, since i'm just not coping but i will be staying in armidale, so not studying = no college = no highspeed internet (or any internet for the moment actually)
so best of luck to everyone and hopefully it wont be too long before i'm back on here

- Rin :)

just a quick update this time, since I should actually be doing study:

- I'm back at college/uni. has been a pretty busy 3/4 weeks. a few 21st bdays, catching up with ppl, college functions, etc. has been pretty good so far. Finally got m enrollment sorted out. redoing some of the same subjects as last year, and some new ones, so should be interesting.

- Last thursday was the 5 month anniversary of when greg n I started going out :D , we got chinese takeaway for dinner and lots of sugary treats for dessert, it was fun. and the next day (friday night actually) we went with a group of friends to the Armidale show, had a good time, went on some rides, not to many though, god damn carnies, almost all the rides were between $6 and $10, bloody ridiculous, not to mention how dear all the sideshow games n things were :faint: , the fireworks were good though

- had another 21st bday yesterday, had a functiony thing with the bday girl n her family n friends, then her friends from uni and some of her cousins came with us on a pub crawl (and as it was a pub night for the colleges, and a saturday, all the pubs were packed)

- i havent actually got a pic of it on here, but i may be able to sell a bit of my chainmaille stuff at college; for Penelope's 21st me and a couple of others gave her a bracelet i made (22g, 2 3/4 ID, silverplated copper, spiral 4-1 ((maybe 3-1, cant remember)) ) and she loved it, and i was getting complements and stuff about it all night, was awsm, and had a couple ppl ask me how long it took to make, etc, and they said they'd try n drum up some business for me, so yay me :D :D now i just have to find time to make some more stuff :P

ok thats it for now, back to study i guess
